Hello everyone,I just wanted to add some visual cues for those reading along at home that may not be entirely familiar with the geography in the Midwest.
In addition, here are some interesting facts about Madison, Wisconsin -- just in case it comes up in your next exciting game of trivial pursuit or you are a contestant on where in the world is Carmen San Diego.
1. Madison is the state capitol, and is the second largest city in Wisconsin.
2. Madison's nickname is "Mad Town" or "Mad City" (I sort of had a chuckle at hearing this on the radio...a mental image of angry people roaming the streets came to mind).
3. The center of the city lies on an isthmus (a narrow strip of land, bordered on both sides by water, connecting two larger bodies of land).
4. The Dane County Farmers’ Market in Madison is a 30-year old farmers market held on Capitol Square from April through November, and is the largest farmers’ market in the United States.
5. Comedian and actor Chris Farley grew up in Madison and graduated from Marquette University.
6. Otis Redding died in an airplane crash into Lake Monona.
Here is a picture of the capitol from Lake Monona. I can't claim it as my own, so please give credit to another person who had it on a website on the internet! Being that the Capitol is between the two lakes, it makes for a very picturesque area. Imagine just a few leaves turning color - with a few boats still taking in the last of the warm weather for the season! Couple this with walkers, joggers, and bicyclists enjoying the path around the lake and its a mix for a very active area.
